Encyclopaedia Lectures
The most significant of Welsh publishing projects, The Welsh Academy Encyclopaedia of Wales, edited by Menna Baines, Nigel Jenkins, John Davies and Peredur I. Lynch, is available to buy here.
To celebrate the completion of this great enterprise, Academi is offering financial support to groups seeking to organise lectures either about the Encyclopaedia project as a whole or on any of the thousands of individual articles which comprise the work. There is a full alphabetical list of articles and contributors in this section but you may like to consider some of the following: Jane Aaron on literature and women writers, John B Hilling on architecture, Penri James on agriculture, Dave Berry on film, Gareth Williams on sport, Peter Stead on history or Ivor Allchurch, Peredur Lynch on the work of editing.
Those of you familiar with our Writers on Tour scheme will know the straightforward paperwork routine:
- your request for support reaches us at least a month before your event [two weeks for educational events]
- if we can help, we issue our standard paperwork which instructs you to pay your speaker in full and supplies you with an event report form
- when you return your report form, we pay you our contribution which will be up to half the costs of the event
- you can apply online below, or by post, by e-mail or by fax
